Bacterial Lysate (7mg) is an immunomodulator derived from the mechanical lysis of standardized bacterial strains, primarily used for the prevention of recurrent respiratory tract infections. It acts as a polyvalent bacterial antigenic stimulus, enhancing both innate and adaptive immune responses. In the Indian context, it is widely prescribed for its prophylactic role in frequently ill children and adults, particularly during seasonal changes.
Adult: One capsule (7mg) daily on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning. Standard course: 10 days per month for 3 consecutive months. May be repeated after a break if needed.
Note: Swallow capsule whole with a glass of water on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal. Do not crush or chew the capsule. If opening is necessary for pediatric use, mix the powder with a small amount of cold, non-acidic food immediately before consumption.
Contains lyophilized lysates of common respiratory pathogens. Upon oral administration, antigens are taken up by M cells in the Peyer's patches of the intestinal mucosa. This stimulates dendritic cells and macrophages, leading to activation of T-helper cells (Th1) and subsequent B-cell differentiation. This results in increased production of specific secretory IgA in the respiratory mucosa, enhanced phagocytic activity of macrophages, and a balanced Th1/Th2 cytokine response, providing systemic and mucosal immunological defense.
Pregnancy: Category B: Animal reproduction studies have not shown risk, but no adequate, well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Use only if clearly needed, after physician's risk-benefit assessment.
Driving: No effect on ability to drive or use machines.
| Immunosuppressants (Cyclosporine, Tacrolimus, Azathioprine) | May diminish the immunostimulant effect of the bacterial lysate. | Moderate |
| Corticosteroids (high-dose, long-term) | Systemic immunosuppression may reduce efficacy. | Moderate |
| Live Attenuated Vaccines | Theoretical risk of interference; maintain a gap of 2-4 weeks. No issue with inactivated vaccines. | Low |
