Bro, 30 saal ka diabetes finally kidney pe bhaari pad gaya – kya koi bacha sakta hai?
Yaar, 30 years with type 1 diabetes feels like a lifetime. Last week my nephrologist called—my eGFR dropped to 58. I knew this day would come, but still it hit me hard. Been on insulin since age 9, and now suddenly my body is acting up. Insulin resistance is creeping in. I’m taking almost 60 units a day now, and still my sugar stays above 200 in the mornings.
My wife keeps asking me to eat healthier, but I feel so tired of counting every grain of rice. She means well, but sometimes I just want to eat a normal roti without guilt. The mental load is crushing. And my kids see me checking my blood 8-10 times a day—they must think this is normal life.
I started walking 20 minutes after dinner, but my feet feel numb now. Not sure if it’s neuropathy or just exhaustion.
Has anyone here managed to slow down kidney damage with diet or medication? My doctor mentioned SGLT2 inhibitors but said they have risks for type 1. I’m scared to try new things. Please share what worked for you.
