A triple-action oral syrup combining a first-generation antihistamine (Cyproheptadine) with a lipotropic agent and choleretic (Tricholine Citrate) and an osmotic laxative (Sorbitol). Primarily used in the Indian market as an appetite stimulant and digestive aid, especially in pediatric and geriatric populations for weight gain and management of functional gastrointestinal disorders. It addresses both central (appetite) and peripheral (digestion, bile flow, stool softening) pathways.
Adult Dosage: 5 ml to 10 ml (1-2 teaspoonfuls) three times a day, before meals. Max: 30 ml/day.
Instructions: Shake the bottle well before use. Use the measuring cup/spoon provided. Administer orally, preferably 15-30 minutes before meals for optimal appetite stimulation. Can be taken with or without water. Do not mix with hot liquids.
1. Cyproheptadine: Antagonizes histamine H1 and serotonin (5-HT2) receptors in the hypothalamic appetite center, potentially disinhibiting feeding behavior. Its antiserotonergic effect is key, as serotonin is a satiety signal. 2. Tricholine Citrate: Provides choline, a lipotropic factor that promotes hepatic fat metabolism and export (as VLDL). It also acts as a choleretic, stimulating bile flow from the liver, aiding fat emulsification and digestion. 3. Sorbitol: An osmotic agent that draws water into the intestinal lumen, softening stools and stimulating peristalsis, preventing constipation which can be a side effect of Cyproheptadine.
