Mechanism of Action

The combination works synergistically: Chlorpheniramine competitively antagonizes histamine at H1-receptors, reducing allergic symptoms like rhinorrhea and sneezing, and has anticholinergic effects that may help dry secretions. Dextromethorphan acts centrally on the cough center in the medulla oblongata, raising the threshold for cough reflex. Menthol activates cold-sensitive TRPM8 receptors in the respiratory tract, providing a cooling sensation, mild local anesthesia, and a perceived relief of congestion.
