1. Clinical Overview
Avoprost D 8mg/0.5mg Capsule contains doxazosin mesylate (8mg) and finasteride (0.5mg). Doxazosin is an alpha-1 blocker that relaxes smooth muscle in the prostate and bladder neck; finasteride is a 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor that reduces prostate volume. This combination is used for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) to improve urinary flow and reduce symptoms. Doxazosin also has antihypertensive effects.

2. Side Effects
Possible side effects associated with Avoprost D 8mg/0.5mg Capsule:
- Common side effects: dizziness
- orthostatic hypotension
- headache
- and fatigue with doxazosin; finasteride may cause decreased libido
- erectile dysfunction
- and ejaculation disorders. Rare: postural hypotension
- syncope
- and breast tenderness. Finasteride can reduce PSA levels; interpret results accordingly. Not for use in women or children. Avoid abrupt cessation of doxazosin.
