Actibile 450 SR Tablet

1. Clinical Overview

Actibile 450 SR Tablet is a sustained-release formulation of ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), a bile acid that reduces cholesterol saturation in bile and promotes dissolution of gallstones. It is used for primary biliary cholangitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and non-cirrhotic biliary disorders. UDCA also protects hepatocytes from bile acid toxicity by replacing hydrophobic bile acids, improving liver function and reducing pruritus. The SR tablet allows once-daily dosing, improving compliance. It is not effective for acute attacks. Treatment may take months; regular monitoring of liver enzymes is recommended.

2. Side Effects

Possible side effects associated with Actibile 450 SR Tablet:

• Common: diarrhea or loose stools

• dyspepsia
• and pruritus. Rare: allergic reactions
• bradycardia
• and photosensitivity. In primary biliary cholangitis
