Composition
Each tablet contains: Atorvastatin Calcium equivalent to 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg, or 80 mg of Atorvastatin.
Uses
- Lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol and triglycerides
- Increases HDL ("good") cholesterol
- Reduces risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events
- Used in hyperlipidemia and mixed dyslipidemia
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: Usually 10–20 mg once daily; may be increased up to 80 mg/day
- Can be taken with or without food
- Take at the same time each day
Regular cholesterol monitoring is recommended during treatment.
Possible Side Effects
- Muscle pain or weakness
- Headache, nausea, diarrhea
- Abnormal liver function tests
- Rare: Rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown)
Precautions & Warnings
- Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
- Use with caution in liver disease
- Report any unexplained muscle pain immediately
Drug Interactions
- Certain antibiotics, antifungals, and HIV medicines can increase side effect risk
- Grapefruit juice may increase Atorvastatin levels
