Tricholine Citrate is a choline-containing compound used primarily as a lipotropic agent and hepatoprotective. It acts as a source of choline, an essential nutrient involved in fat metabolism and liver function. In the Indian context, it is widely prescribed for fatty liver disease, dyspepsia, and as an adjunct in hyperlipidemia management.
Adult: 500mg to 1.5g (1 to 3 tablets of 500mg) per day, in divided doses, after meals. Typical: 500mg two to three times daily.
Note: Tablet to be taken after meals with a full glass of water. Do not crush or chew unless instructed. For syrup formulations, use the measuring cup provided.
Provides choline, a methyl donor and essential component of phosphatidylcholine (lecithin). This aids in: 1) Hepatic fat metabolism - promotes synthesis of lipoproteins for fat transport out of the liver, reducing hepatic steatosis. 2) Bile secretion - choline is necessary for bile production, improving fat emulsification and digestion. 3) Membrane integrity - as a phospholipid precursor, it helps maintain hepatocyte membrane structure.
Pregnancy: Category A (Indian classification). Considered safe. Choline is an essential nutrient for fetal brain development. Use as per physician advice.
Driving: Unlikely to affect ability. Dizziness is a rare side effect.
